05.07.11 Hilltop Artists in the news for the "Be the Spark" event!

On May 13th, 100 students and teachers from Jason Lee Middle school will be going to participate in the "Be the Spark" event at the Tacoma Dome.
"The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation’s Be the Spark movement challenges individuals to be a catalyst and do something – anything – they believe will contribute to a more positive community. "
This is the final US appearance by Desmond Tutu, and we are proud and honored to be a part of this historic event. Thank you to the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, and generous donations from the Center for Spiritual Living for making this possible for our students.

Both articles talk about Hilltop Artists involvement in this inspiring event.
The bowl pictured here was created by Greg Piercy (Hilltop Artists Instructor) with assistance from two middle school students at Jason Lee: Jacob Scarberry and Thomas Craft. The design was inspired by South African woven basket designs, and was created as a gift for Desmond Tutu.
Did you know that Hilltop Artists also created the awards for the City of Destiny award winners?
"Mayor Marilyn Strickland and Tacoma City Council will recognize Tacoma’s top volunteers – six individuals and four groups – during the 25th annual City of Destiny Awards at 7 p.m. on May 10. This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Stadium High School Auditorium, 111 N. ‘E’ St."
